๐ŸŒธ Thank_You ๐ŸŒธ

Dear believer,

you would be surprised to know that six months back, before “The Girl” became a real project, it was just an idea in my head. Along with that idea was a story on which lied a firm belief of working on it. With these two things, the story and the belief and no financial backup to proceed, our project began with the aim to bring out a narrative that makes you realize our connection to the roots from where we have come. The knowledge system using which the village community had lived for generations and will live with in the future, it is not a part of our present models of environmental sustainability. This is totally in contrast to life in metropolitan cities where people are doing so much awareness work and holding big conferences but despite that, there are issues like noise, water and air pollution that they have to daily face. Keeping these concepts as a foundation over which we based our vision for “The Girl”, the work was given a thumbs up. And eventually, the finance part started to bother us. Irrespective of that, Tabish came from Mumbai to our village and gave workshops to children who are now passionately acting and assisting in the making of our film. On his return journey, Tabish had to bear through the trouble of travelling in General Compartment of his train for thirty hours where he was sweating in the month of May and that too with no seat to comfort himself. Because of people like Tabish and you, we could gather the dedication we needed to successfully move ahead and that is the reason why we could raise Fifty-One Thousand Rupees over the span of six months. That is the power of a community which stands with you when you need it the most. Initially, it was difficult to imagine how the journey of “The Girl” would look like because I am not from a decorated film school but from the school of nature. There were moments when I had no idea how I would survive in the next two weeks and the foundation of our film’s vision was shaking. But those were exactly the times when someone trusted us to financially lend their support. It was you who helped us build a wall of hope on the foundation of our vision. Every conversation that I have had in the previous few months with people who are directly as well as indirectly related to “The Girl”, those talks have been a pillar of strength. When you believe in someone, that person directs even more energy in their tasks. I surely did. We are now a close family where exists an understanding, trust and also a purpose to show the world what a work of art can do to bring change. It started with your belief and this journey shall go a long way. And along with it, we will leave a mark on our community, your community and mine.

ThankYou from Us.
"thegirl" team.

"Nature is the mother of all Education"

Dear Friend Long before modern education and schooling came, there used to be Gurukul. Kings, as well as common men, used to go to the jungle to learn. There was a balance in learning which came from nature plus a teacher. Time passed and big books were written. Our "Environment" became a topic of study and got into the curriculum. But the problems which civilization brought along with it, they remained. We were not stepping into nature. What was happening was conceptual understanding at the level of the brain within the walls of classrooms, libraries, and educational institutions. New generations didn't really step into nature to know about it. But this will take a different direction from now onwards. When the team of "The Girl" started teaching kids, we wanted to make a little progress by our little efforts. Eventually, we came to know that kids have to rebuild their foundation. Despite having lived amidst trees and birds and a river, the...

"Living in the jungle, man learns how to be civil"

In the local dialect of our village, a word called “เคฅुเคฅुเคฐ” is commonly used to refer to a person who repeats mistakes even after being told not to do so. This word has originated from the name of a plant. In the forest, there is a plant which grows own it own without any care. It is about four feet high, thin-looking and found in a cluster. Because it is of no specific importance, it is oftentimes cut but wherever it is thrown, there it starts regrowing. It is called “เคฅुเคฅुเคฐ” plant and “เคฅुเคฅुเคฐ” are those people who refuse to change their behaviours and ignore the advice around them. In the forest, there are several plants and trees whose name is used to household references. This shows how much the rural people are attached to their natural resources. And because of this faith-based attachment, these people have their own beliefs when it comes to taking care of the environment. Take the case of bathing in the river. It is considered that when you bath in the river, your misd...

... it is more important to bring boys into the kitchen...

The concept of a picnic is prevalent in rural areas. What happens is that the kids and young people gather and go to the forest to have a community gathering over food whether it be the Mango season or Amla ripening season. Elder members of the family are also present there but the responsibility of cooking is unto the younger folks. During this picnic time, ladies become a mentor. Mango and amla chutney is made whe n the season of these fruits is in full force. Recently when the team of @thegirl_film was talking to kids, they got excited about the upcoming New Year's Eve. Together we decided that lunch will happen in the jungle and while cooking, we'll make sure to use maximum resources from nature itself. Groups were divided and in each group, there were 5-7 kids. Girls and boys separately cooked at different locations. It was left on them to figure out what to cook and how to manage the process. On 1 January, everyone began their work. Our team went to the ...
